Camp Good Sam Donation Drive

A note from Jen talking about an opportunity to donate to a great cause.  Email her for more info regarding helping out.  Info about Camp Good Sam after the email.
After seeing a call for volunteers for Camp Good Sam-  see the attached link-  in our bulletin a couple of Sundays ago,  I contacted the supervisor regarding volunteer opportunities.
I was curious about how our homeschool group may be of assistance to these children who have lost loved ones.  She inquired about the possibility of our group donating disposable cameras and packs of lifesavers for the children’s welcome packs upon arrival at camp.
I think this would be a great way for us to contribute to their need.  If you are able to help monetarily, or would like to order on your own, please contact me.  I will be collecting for the donation in our group’s name.  Nothing is too small.
There are 60 campers max.
Lifesavers are $38  for 60 on Amazon
Cameras are $135 for 60 on mywedcams.com or get a 10-pack here at Amazon for $48

Camp Good SAM is an collaborative effort of Good Samaritan Hospice and YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee/Spencer. As a non-profit
hospice founded on Christian principles, Good Samaritan Hospice has served community residents in five counties surrounding
Pittsburgh since 1998 as both a home-based and residential hospice. YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee/Spencer, a non-profit charitable
camp owned by the YMCA of Pittsburgh, has served youth as a summer camp since 1926. It has developed into a facility providing
camping and conference programs to Western Pennsylvania and participants from all over the United States and around the world.
Together, Good Samaritan Hospice and YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee/Spencer are ministering to what is often a forgotten population – grieving children.

I thought I would share the following info on the CMF (Catholic Men’s Fellowship of Pittsburgh) CD of the Month Club.  I have subscribed for a couple years now and find CDs very useful in the car for during my commutes.

When you subscribe to CMF’s CD of the Month Club, for just $15, you recieve two exciting talks, each month.

In June, we are featuring two titles from Matthew Arnold: 1) The Life of Christ – Part I and 2) The Life of Christ – Part II. (click to order)

As a subcriber to the CD of the Month Club, you will also receive all talks FREE OF CHARGE recorded by speakers as this year’s GETTING INTO SPIRITUAL SHAPE Gathering of Catholic Men Conference in Pittsburgh. Speakers include Crossing the Goal team: Danny Abramowicz, Curtis Martin, Brian Patrick & Peter Herbeck. Other speakers in attendance were Fr. Joe Freedy, Deacon Ralph Poyo and Damian Wargo.

Don’t forget that CD if the Month subscribers also make it possible for us to continue our monthly podcasts. This month’s postings include:
Channel 1 – Pentecost by Father Robert Barron (listen to channel 1)
Channel 2 – Tom Edwards, International lay Catholic evangelist with his series emphasizing the Holy Scriptures (listen to channel 2).

If you are not a CD of the Month Clube member, and would like to order a set of the April Conference CDs you may do so for only $30 per set (click to order).
